It was the final night of TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO RESTAURANT WEEK 2017 and what better way to end it off than by dining at one of the participating restaurants in Tobago! π… yupsssss I had a tobago trip planned sooooo why not head out to one of the restaurants right?!?π
My choice was R&C Taste of de Caribbean conveniently located at Sandy Point Beach Club in Crown Point.
Priced at $300TTD per person, I knew I was on for a treat after viewing the menu! My choice of appetizer was conch fritters. Other options included a salad, soup and chicken wings. I was very much pleased with my decision!Β They were perfectly seasoned and fried with a delightful crunch and came with a delicious sauce on the side!
Main course was out of this world. I chose lobster with mashed potatoes. Do you see the size of it? (Pic below)… it was HUGE! I was pleasantly surprised since most times all you get is the tail at various restaurants. I love lobster so I was surely in my glee! The garlic butter sauce was excellent with the perfectly done lobster.
Dessert time was here and I opted for.. of course… cheesecake π which had an amazingly smooth texture and tasted delicious. The one negative I’d say about it was the temperature it was served at…. a little colder would have been perfect!
In total hubby and I were there for an hour and a half which was fine for me. Waiting time was not long.
This restaurant had an outdoor setting which is ideal for the dining ‘island feel’. However, with that comes a few unwanted night flying insects from time to time (none that wanted to steal my food though… they just wanted to harass me) … ππ….but don’t be deterred as the food would surely make up for that.
Also… when having dinner at this spot don’t sit beneath the light. I think that was the problem at no other folks had extra company π€·πΌββοΈ
One thing to note as well is that I personally don’t like paper menus… I would prefer something thicker and firm or laminated that would not bend as easily… makes it a lot more presentable…(I’m a big fan of great presentations)
I’m definitely giving the food a big thumbs up though despite the paper menu and the extra company (the few night insects). The ambiance to me was perfect for a lovely date night and also gives that island feel.
I’ll say you should give them a try for sure! Let me know your thoughts. Leave me a comment or send me a message via:
